Departing from Taormina, the Etna excursion offers an extraordinary immersion into the nature and culture of this magnificent region. Climbing to 1,000 meters, you’ll admire birch trees, pines, cherry trees, olive groves, and vineyards, offering breathtaking panoramas. Our tour continues by off-road vehicle along the SR Mare Neve regional road, taking us up to 2,000 meters at Piano Provenzana on the northern slopes of Etna. From there we’ll explore the Sartorius Craters along hidden trails that lead us to 2,200 meters, revealing details about the vegetation and volcanic formations that create extraordinary scenery.

After visiting the Sartorius Craters, we’ll head to a lava tube cave where, equipped with helmets and technical gear, we’ll enjoy an exciting and accessible speleological experience. The morning concludes at a chalet nestled in the pine forest, where we’ll savor a traditional lunch.

In the afternoon, the excursion moves on to the Alcantara Valley. On the return journey, we’ll pass through Castiglione di Sicilia, a medieval village of great cultural significance, before reaching the Alcantara Gorges — Sicily’s most famous canyon, formed 8,000 years ago by the river’s erosion of basalt rock. The gorges continue to be sculpted by the river, with some areas featuring small sandy beaches along the banks.
